Praising his energy, effectiveness and leadership, former Mayor David Dinkins will endorse City Councilman Robert Jackson for Manhattan Borough President. Mayor Dinkins served as Manhattan Borough President from 1986 – 1989.

"Robert Jackson is an effective and energetic fighter for affordable housing, safe streets, and quality education for the people of Manhattan,” said Mayor Dinkins. “His advocacy brought New York City’s public schools billions of dollars of funding for programs and services designed to give our children a better chance.

“Robert understands the challenges we face in this borough and has proven that he can get the job done. He has been a strong, hard-working, progressive leader in the City Council, and I have great confidence that he will continue to advocate for measures that promise to improve the lives of all the people of the borough of Manhattan.  I endorse Robert Jackson as my candidate for Manhattan Borough President, and am proud to add my name to his long and growing list of supporters."
